About this guide
This guide supports technology teaching and learning in senior secondary programmes.
Senior secondary programmes encompass a wide variety of technology-related learning that draws on a mix of objectives from technology in The New Zealand Curriculum (2007) and from specialist areas.
The technology teaching and learning guide includes:
- a framework to support teachers in designing innovative curriculum programmes that enable senior students to progress their technology learning and meet technology achievement standards
- pedagogical guidance, with contextualised examples of teaching practice, including advice on how to plan for and assess student learning
- descriptions of skills, knowledge, and practices appropriate for learning in technology and of how these progress through levels 6, 7, and 8
- discussion of effective teaching and learning practices that:
- meet the diverse learning needs of students in New Zealand
- use the rich resources available within the school and community to support authentic and culturally appropriate learning

Technology Online is a site dedicated to technology teachers, students, and all those with an interest in technology education in New Zealand.
It showcases examples of contemporary teaching and learning in technology and provides curriculum support for teachers in their ongoing planning and implementation of classroom programmes.

- curriculum leaders designing coherent programmes for technology in senior secondary schooling
