Graph alt text 10

Two bar graphs of the same data set, with the top graph entitled ‘Ethnicity proportions by gender’ (Gender) and the bottom graph ‘Ethnicity proportions by course’ (Course). Both bar graphs use a vertical (y) axis scale of proportion from 0.0 to 0.4. The gender graph is split into two sets of vertical bars, with female on the left and male on the right, with each set repeating colour-coded categories of ethnicity from left to right as follows: Chinese, Indian, Korean, Māori, Pacific, NZ European, Other European, and Other. Both gender sets have a roughly similar shape, with peak proportion values greater than 0.3 for NZ European and a second peak of approximately 0.2 for Chinese. The course graph is split into three sets of vertical bars by course (course numbers 101, 102, and 108 from left to right), with each course categorised by ethnicity the same way as the gender graph. While all three courses have a peak value greater than 0.3 proportion for NZ European, data for each course displays a distinct pattern, with course 101 having a moderate (0.2 proportion) peak for Chinese, course 102 having a moderate peak (0.15 proportion) for Other European and minimal Chinese peak, and course 108 having a strong (0.3 proportion) peak for Chinese.
