Achievement objective GM6-8

In a range of meaningful contexts, students will be engaged in thinking mathematically and statistically. They will solve problems and model situations that require them to:

  • compare and apply single and multiple transformations.

Indicators

  • Reflects, rotates, enlarges, and translates figures.
  • Identifies and uses key features of transformations, such as centres and angles of rotation, centres of enlargement, scale factors, lines of symmetry, and vectors.
  • Links combinations of transformations to a single transformation with the same result.
  • Makes links with patterns GM6-9 and transformations of graphs NA6-7.
  • See key mathematical ideas on NZmaths.

Progression

GM6-8 links to M7-2.

Assessment for qualifications

NCEA achievement standards at level 1, 2 and 3 have been aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum. Please ensure that you are using the correct version of the standards by going to the NZQA website.

The following achievement standard(s) could assess learning outcomes from this AO.

  • AS91034 Mathematics and statistics 1.9 Apply transformation geometry in solving problems

Refer to the mathematics and statistics matrix.
