Achievement objective 8-2: Methodologies

Students will gain knowledge, skills, and experience to:

  •  conduct independent psychological research with consultation.

The difference between level 7 and 8 for this achievement objective is as follows:

At level 7, a teacher provides the research context and scaffolds the research process. At level 8, the student is responsible for independently developing their context and research process. The teacher provides feedback appropriate to the students’ individual needs.

Possible contexts

Possible contexts include the following:

  • Would we help an old lady cross the road?
  • Are we all just sheep?

Assessment for qualifications

Learning in relation to this objective can be assessed using psychology achievement standards or relevant achievement standards from other subjects or learning areas. The standards selected should connect with a holistic learning programme that meets the needs of your students. Possible standards include:

  • Psychology – 3.2 Analyse the significance of a key piece of research and its impact on society
  • Psychology – 3.3 Conduct independent psychological research with consultation
